Urban Renewal

Disadvantaged Neighbourhoods (1994- 1996)

The project 'The Role of Private Actors in the Renewal and Economic Revitalisation of Disadvantaged Urban Neighbourhoods' studied the interaction of public policies and neighbourhood initiatives of private actors in France, Germany and the Netherlands. The study focused on the economic revitalisation of disadvantaged neighbourhoods and on the forms of integration of private actors into neighbourhood renewal projects as well as on their contribution to the reduction of existing social, economic and spatial disparities. The study described the country-specific conditions for and experience with a wider integration of private actors in neighbourhood renewal projects und assessed their potential for reducing neighbourhood problems.
