Spatial Development in Europe

VASAB 2010 plus (2000)

IRPUD participates in the study on a new spatial development concept for the Baltic Sea region. 'Vision and Strategies Around the Baltic (VASAB) 2010 plus' is the continuation of a study on trans-national development potentials and spatial concepts in the North-East of Europe completed in 1994. The new report will present current trans-national spatial development concepts in Europe, analyse current and future developments in the Baltic Sea region, assess trans-regional projects and propose an action programme. The project, which is funded under the INTERREG-IIC programme of the European Union, is co-ordinated by Planco Consult (Essen) in co-operation with Nordregio

(Stockholm), partners from the regions and the Committee for Spatial Development of the Baltic Sea Region. The task of IRPUD consists of the analysis of current developments in transport and communications, in particular of the impacts of the trans-European networks on accessibility in the Baltic Sea region.
